These cute little tissue paper hearts are a super easy craft for both pre-schoolers and older children alike. These hearts look super sweet once they’re made and are perfect for children to make and gift for mothers day, valentines day, fathers day, birthdays and more. I’ve also made these to decorate preschool display boards for valentines dayand they looked beautiful!

here’s what we used

  • Card
  • Tissue paper
  • String/yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Tape
  • pencil/pen

How to make our tissue paper hearts

start by taking your piece of card and folding it in half as if you were making a greetings card.

Take your pen and starting at the fold draw the shape of one half of a heart with the bottom point sitting in the bottom left corner. Now draw a second half heart just inside the first one trying to leave an equal gap between both hearts all the way around. We make our hearts around 2cm wide, that way they’re thick enough to look good but not so thick they take all day to cover!

Now its time to cut out your heart shape. Start by cutting out the larger outside heart that you drew and then cut out the smaller heart inside. Open up your piece of card so that the heart is full and flat.

Take your tissue paper and cut out several colourful squares, ours were roughly 4cm x 4cm. Cover a section of your heart in glue and then take your squares one by one, scrunch them into a ball and glue them down onto the heart.

Continue this process all the way around until your heart is fully decorated and looking fabulous and colourful! Pop it aside to dry until the tissue paper is secure.

once dry flip your heart over. Take a length of string or yarn and tie it into a loop of your desired size. Use a strip of tape to secure the loop onto the back of the heart and you’re finished! your super cute tissue paper hearts are ready to hang and display or to give to that somebody special.

Aren’t these just the sweetest?!
