My kids absolutely love making pom poms but more often that not they can’t decide what to do with them once they’ve made them. We had several lying around the house and i decided to come up with a cute way to display them. The gorgeous and fluffy pom pom bunnies that we made were just perfect and especially cute to have out in preparation for spring and easter, which cant come soon enough!

At the bottom of this page you can find our small pink bunny free to download and if you’d like to support my blog then you can find both styles of bunny in  large and small sizes on our store!

Here’s what we used

  • Our free printable bunny (Available at the bottom of this page) OR if you wish to support my blog you can find both our bunnies in two sizes available on our store here
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Hole Punch

how to make our fluffy pom pom bunnies

Start by taking your yarn and wrapping it around your fingers over and over until you have a thick wad on your hand. For the large bunnies we wrapped around 4 of my adult sized fingers and my 8 year old used his whole hand. For the smaller bunnies i used three fingers and he used four. The amount of times you need to wrap the yarn depends on the thickness of it, you just need to make sure you have a good amount to make a fluffy pom pom.

Snip your wad of yarn off at the end and then gently slide it off of your fingers and place it gently onto a flat surface in front of you with the two holes on either side.

Take a short length of yarn and tie it around the centre of your wad of yarn as you can see above. You need to make sure you pull the yarn very tight otherwise your pom pom will likely full apart during the next steps and you’ll have to start all over!

Snip open all the loops on either side of your pom pom directly in the middle of each loop. you’ll end up with a big fluffy pom pom that will likely look very messy and uneven, Simply trim down your pom pom until you are fairly happy with it’s shape and size.

Next you’ll need to take your printed template and carefully cut out the bunny that you have chosen to use. The bunny we have used in this example is the smaller pink bunny which is available for free. Once you have your bunny pop a small amount of glue onto it’s belly and stick your pom pom down in place. Glue down the sides as needed then give your bunny a moment to dry. Finish trimming down your pom pom and snipping off any unwanted strands.

Take your hole punch and punch a hole between the bunny’s ears. Now snip of another length of your yarn and tie the two ends together to make a loop. Thread one end of the loop through the hole and then thread that end of the loop through the middle of the other end and pull it tight until it’s secure around the top of the bunny.

your super cute pom pom bunny is ready to display or gift – we just love these little guys!
