In our house dinosaurs are a big deal and these super cute paper plate dinosaurs that we made last week were a real hit! They were simple enough for my oldest to make without any help and my youngest really enjoyed making them with only a little support.
The best part is not only are they super easy but they’re totally budget friendly too which makes them the perfect craft to mass produce for groups such as preschools, after school clubs and craft clubs!

Here’s what we used
- Paper plates
- Paint and paintbrush
- Coloured card
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Pen
- Glue
How to make our adorable paper plate dinosaurs!

Start by taking your paper plate and completely coating in your chosen colour of paint and then popping it aside to dry.

Once your paper plate is totally dry to the touch, fold it in half and then cut directly down the folded line to give you two equal halves.

Take one half of your paper plate and turn it over to the back. Draw a line following the edge of your paper plate, but approximately 4-5cm away from it. Stop at around a third of the paper plate and draw the circular shape of the head. Now below the head, draw the long curved triangular shape of the tail. Cut both your head and your tail shapes out.

Glue the dinosaurs head onto one end of the paper plate and then the tail onto the opposite end with the curve making the dinosaurs back as can be seen above.

Add a googly eyes to the dinosaurs head and then take your coloured card, cut out two rectangular legs, and glue them onto the base of your dinosaur

Finally, add any cute optional decoration bits, and once it’s dry, your paper plate dinosaur is finished! Aren’t these just the cutest?!
