These simple paper Easter eggs are so quick and easy to make and are adorable as handmade Easter decorations. We only made a few to hang up around the house, ready for our Easter egg hunt, but we think they would look great on handmade bunting, too!
Here’s what we used
- Patterned paper
- String
- Pony beads
- Scissors
- Glue
- A pen (optional)
How to make paper Easter egg decorations

You’re going to need to start by cutting out four to eight identical Easter egg shapes from your patterned paper. The easiest ways to do this is to either stack the paper and cut out four eggs at the same time or to use your first egg as a template to draw around.

Once you have all four of your paper eggs, fold each of them in half. If your pattern is only on one side of the paper, then make sure the pattern is on the inside of the folded egg.

Take two of your eggs and glue one half of one onto one half of the other. To give you a t shaped piece as you can see above.

Continue adding on your Easter eggs by gluing the halves together to build up the shape of the egg

Take a good length of string, fold it in half and tie a loop just below the fold. You may need to tie two or three knots to make sure it’s big enough that the beads won’t fall off the end. Thread some beads onto the string below the knot.

Lie the string across the centre line of your two loose ends of eggs. Spread glue over the two open half’s and then stick them together to complete the egg shapes.

Thread a couple more beads onto the bottom and then tie off the two loose ends of strings. Again, you may need to tie it a few times to make sure the beads do not fall off.
