These simple paper fans are so easy to make and are a perfect summer craft to keep kids busy and cool over these warmer months! My children loved playing with these out in the garden during our recent heatwave.
Here’s what we used
- Coloured paper (3 sheets)
- Jumbo lollipop sticks
- Glue gun (or strong glue)
How to make our simple paper fans

Start by taking one sheet of your coloured paper and laying it out infront of you in landscape position

Now fold your piece of paper directly in half as if you were making a greetings card.

Fold your piece of paper in half again three more times until you have a long thin strip left as you can see in the image above.

Open the paper back up in front of you.

You’re now going to begin accordion folding along the lines that you created. To accordion fold you simply fold the paper one way and then back the other way and continue repeating this process until you reach the end.

Now simply fold the paper in half to form a fan like shape.

Use your double sided tape or glue to secure the fan together in the middle

Repeat these steps with the two remaining sheets of paper until you have three identical fan sections.

Now we’re going to glue the three sections together to create the circular shape of our fan

Take your two large lollipop sticks and glue one on either end of the fan. You want to make sure that one end of the stick is level with the folded centre of the fan and the other end hangs out over the edge of the fan as can be seen above.
