These easy paper bats are super simple to make and are great as handmade decorations for Halloween! We’re going to make a whole army of different sized bats and thread them onto some string to make some spooky bunting for our living room. How are you guys going to display yours?

Here’s what we used

  • Black card
  • Pink and white paper
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue stick
  • Glue gun and an adult to operate it
  • Scissors

How to make our easy paper bats

Start by cutting out 3 a5 sized pieces of black card. Take the first piece of card and lay it out in front of you in the landscape position.

Working from left to right accordion fold your piece of paper by folding it one way and then turning it over and folding it the other

Repeat this step with your second piece of card and fold it at roughly the same size to give you two equal wing pieces.

Take your third piece of card and this time, lay it in front of you in portrait position. Repeat the same process of accordion folding from left to right, and you will end up with a slightly longer body piece.

Fold all three pieces in half, as you can see above.

Use your glue gun to glue the open edges of the fold together

Now glue the two wing pieces onto the side of the body piece just below the folded point, as can be seen in the image above.

Now it’s time to make the bats face! Cut out a circular piece of black card and two pointy triangle black ears. Glue two smaller pink triangles onto the ears to make the inner ears and glue the ears onto the back of the face. Then add two googly eyes and two sharp white triangle fangs.

Now take your pipe cleaners and twist three bends into the end of each one. Twist the bends into the main body of the pipe cleaner to secure them and to make the arms and legs.

Glue the pipe cleaners inside the folds on the back of your bat, and once dry your super cute easy paper bats are finished and ready to display for spooky season!
