Simple Easter Chick Collage

The last few days we’ve been busy trying to come up with some sweet and simple crafts that are really easy for children to make at home. With the current situation most of us are spending pretty much all of our time at home and when its rains and pours, most of that time is indoors. Crafting is a really fun way for children to pass some time and even if its not your cup of tea, these crafts are really simple, straighforward and easy to make – just like this super cute and simple Easter chick collage!

You will need

  • White paper
  • Coloured paper (yellow, green and orange)
  • Black marker
  • Googly eye
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Glue

To make the body you’ll need to cut out two yellow circles; one slightly smaller than the other. To get good sizings we drew around the outside of a roll of sellotape for the body and then around the inside for the head. Glue your two circles down in position overlapping slightly as you can see in the picture above.

Cut out an orange triangle for the beak and two curvy tridents for the legs and feet. Glue your pieces down in place.

Glue down a googly eye on the head circle of your Easter chick. Now take your marker and use it to draw on a U shaped wing.

Take your ribbon and tie it in to a bow. Glue your bow down in place where your body circle meets the head circle. Finish off by cutting out a green tuft of grass and gluing it on to your picture. You could even go on to draw on some flowers and some butterflies or bumble bees!

A couple of weeks back i bought a Giant class bag of buttons and haven’t got round to making any button crafts since. So today i thought i’d best bust them open and try and get something made with them. Not in the least to stop my other half saying i was buying stuff and not using it! It’s been a busy day so i decided it would have to be something quick and simple. Sometimes the cutest crafts are the simplest ones and sometimes all we want is a last minute make to gift. This cute little button Easter chick card is so quick and easy to make but it still looks adorable!

you will need:

  • Buttons (Brown and yellow)
  • Orange and black pens
  • Card
  • Glue

Use larger buttons to make the body of your chicks and slightly smaller ones for the head. Make a large brown chicken on the left hand side to be the mother hen, then add two or three smaller ones to the right of her as if they were following behind.

Use your orange marker to add triangular beaks to each chicken. Then, using the same orange marker give each chick two little legs.

Glue a googly eye on to the head button of all the chickens and leave to dry. Once your card is completely dry, use your black marker to add your own special message to the top of the cards. your Easter card is finished! aren’t those little chickens just the cutest!

Toddler finger-paint berry heart card

Crafting isn’t only for big kids. My 1yo loves to craft and paint and when my eldest is at school i love to sit down and spend time painting with her. Today was her grandmothers birthday so made this toddler finger-paint berry heart card, isn’t it sweet? the best part is that it can be as spotty and smudgy as your toddler chooses and it will still look adorable!

You will need

  • Red card
  • Green and Yellow Paint
  • 2 Googly eyes
  • A marker pen

First you will need to make your card shape. Take a rectangle strip of card (we usually quarter a piece of A4 to make four cards) and fold it in half. Trim your card to make it into a square. Draw on the curves of your heart as you can see above. Cut out your heart shape.

Now its time to fingerpaint your card! Add some green fingerprints for leaves and some yellow fingerprints for seeds.

Finish off your the front of your berry heart card by giving him two googly eyes and drawing on a smiley mouth!

Now all that’s left to do is write your message inside and gift your heart to someone special.

It’s not much longer to go untill spring and i don’t know about you but I really can’t wait for the warmer weather and lighter nights. This week we’ve been busy making some spring crafts and how cute is this little hatching Easter chick craft? My son likes him so much he wants to make a whole nest full!

First you will need to make your egg shell. Cut your paper plate in half, then cut out some triangles along the straight edge to make your cracked shell.

Take your yellow paper and cut out an arch shape as shown above, this will be your chick’s body.

Glue you chick’s body down on the back of your paper plate egg shell. Then cut out two white ovals for eyes, use a marker to draw on some Pupils and glue them down. To make the beak; fold a piece of orange paper and using the fold as the base cut out a triangle to give you an equal sided diamond. Glue one half of the diamond down in position as the beak and leave the other half loose.

Next you will need to make the paper springs for your chick’s legs. Cut out one long strip of orange paper and one long strip of yellow paper and place them at a 90° angle. Take turns folding one colour over the other to make your spring. Once you reach the end of your paper secure the two loose ends together with glue. Repeat this step to make a second spring.

Glue one end of your spring down in place on your egg shell and then cut out two little feet to glue on the free end. Your little hatching chick is finished! How adorable is he?!
