These adorable little bookworm bookmarks are so sweet and simple. They’re perfect for young readers or as a handmade gift for loved ones! We originally made one for Granny but i liked them so much that my little guy wanted to make one for me too and aren’t they just the sweetest?
Heres what we used
Coloured card
Scissors
Glue
Googly eyes
Pen
How to make these bookworm bookmarks
Start by cutting out the rectangle shape of your bookmark. Then take your scissors and cut out 6-8 little circles. Glue them into an zig-zag pattern to make the bookworm’s body.
Add a face to your bookworm. For ours we added two googly eyes, a paper mouth and two antennae. Once the eyes had secured a little we used a pen to draw around them and add some glasses.
Next it’s time to make book. Cut out a rectangle strip of card that is the same height as your bookmark and then fold it in half to make the book. Trim the width as necessary. Then cut out a slightly smaller rectangle from your white paper and glue it into the centre of the book to make the pages. Use a marker to add a special message.
Finish off by adding any optional decoration and your bookmarks are ready to use or gift!
How cute is this little Best teacher thank you card? Teachers work so hard to help children learn and also to help them grow and develop as individuals. When i think back on all that my teachers did for me and the patience that they had for me as an anxious young kid, i am eternally grateful. Everyone likes to feel like they’re doing a good job and when i worked in a preschool there was no better feeling than when a child thanked you, made something to gift you or drew a picture for you. So why not show a teacher some appreciation by hand making them a thank you card!
You will need
Coloured card (we used red, 3 shades of green and brown)
Black and white card
Black marker
Scissors
Glue
Take a sheet of red card and fold it in half. Draw an apple shape onto the front of your card. You will need to make the bottom of the apple flat so that it can stand up. Also, remember to make sure that you leave part of the fold line intact, otherwise you will end up with two seperate apple shapes rather than one joined card!
Once you have cut out your apple shape you will need to cut out a brown stalk shape and a green leaf. Glue the stalk down in place on the inside of your card and then the leaf down on the stalk.
Now to cut out the basic shapes of your caterpillar. Youll need to cut out; one black circle, four slighly smaller coloured circles (we used 2 dark green and 2 light green) and two antennae shapes.
Stick your antennae down on one of your smaller circles to make the head then glue the head down in place on the rest of the circles to make the caterpillar’s body. Attach the black circle to the back of the caterpillar to make the spot where it comes out of the apple and then glue your caterpillar down onto your card.
Now give your caterpillar two eyes, we used eye stickers but if you don’t have these you can simply cut out two white circles and draw on the details. Finish your caterpillar by giving him a cute smiley mouth.
All that’s left to do is add your special message to the front of your card and inside. Your special teacher thank you card is finished and ready to gift!
