These easy paper roll birds are perfect as a fun spring craft for at home or for preschools too! Each bird turns out so beautiful and unique and children can switch up their own designs to make their favourite kinds of birds. My kids really enjoyed making these. We looked at pictures of different birds on google and tried to copy them – we made a robin, a peacock and some parrots. I just love how these turned out!
Heres what we used
Paper roll
Paints & paintbrush
Googly eyes
Coloured paper
Scissors
Glue
Feathers
How to make these cute paper roll birds
Start by taking the paper rolls and cutting them down to the desired size. Now it’s time to coat them in the coloured paint before putting them aside to dry.
Once the paper rolls are dry, cut out two little bird’s feet and glue them to the bottom of the roll.
Now its time to give the birds a face! Add two eyes, a beak and any other facial features.
Finish off the paper roll birds by adding some feathers to Make a tail and optionally some wings! How adorable are these cute little critters?
After a couple of weeks off, we’re back again with another fun and easy spring craft idea! I just love pom pom crafts. When i was little i would sit with my nan for hours making Pom poms to go on little bobble hats for her knitted snowman teddies. We used to use the little cardboard circles, they were so fiddly and we’d spend hours threading them in and out. Thankfully now we know a few easier ways to make pom poms and I’m so pleased how this little pom pom spring chick craft turned out, They were fab as little Easter decorations too!
Here’s what we used
Yarn
Pom pom maker (optional)
Scissors
Glue gun
Felt
Ribbon bow
Googly eyes
How to make our pom pom spring chick craft
First you will need to start by making two different sized pom poms. You can find a guide on how to make pom poms here.
Once you have your two pom poms. There are are two ways in which you can do this. For ours we simply used the long strands of tying yarn to tie them tightly together with a double knot before trimming them to length.
The other way you can secure them together is by trimming the tying yarn and then using a glue gun to stick the two pom poms together.
Next it’s time to give the pom pom chick a face. For ours we glue on two googly eyes, a felt beak and a pretty ribbon bow.
Finish off by gluing on two felt wings and two little feet. Once dry the chick is finished, isn’t he a cutie? Perfect as an Easter gift, handmade toy or to decorate an Easter bonnet!
The last few days we’ve been busy trying to come up with some sweet and simple crafts that are really easy for children to make at home. With the current situation most of us are spending pretty much all of our time at home and when its rains and pours, most of that time is indoors. Crafting is a really fun way for children to pass some time and even if its not your cup of tea, these crafts are really simple, straighforward and easy to make – just like this super cute and simple Easter chick collage!
You will need
White paper
Coloured paper (yellow, green and orange)
Black marker
Googly eye
Ribbon
Scissors
Glue
To make the body you’ll need to cut out two yellow circles; one slightly smaller than the other. To get good sizings we drew around the outside of a roll of sellotape for the body and then around the inside for the head. Glue your two circles down in position overlapping slightly as you can see in the picture above.
Cut out an orange triangle for the beak and two curvy tridents for the legs and feet. Glue your pieces down in place.
Glue down a googly eye on the head circle of your Easter chick. Now take your marker and use it to draw on a U shaped wing.
Take your ribbon and tie it in to a bow. Glue your bow down in place where your body circle meets the head circle. Finish off by cutting out a green tuft of grass and gluing it on to your picture. You could even go on to draw on some flowers and some butterflies or bumble bees!
A couple of weeks back i bought a Giant class bag of buttons and haven’t got round to making any button crafts since. So today i thought i’d best bust them open and try and get something made with them. Not in the least to stop my other half saying i was buying stuff and not using it! It’s been a busy day so i decided it would have to be something quick and simple. Sometimes the cutest crafts are the simplest ones and sometimes all we want is a last minute make to gift. This cute little button Easter chick card is so quick and easy to make but it still looks adorable!
you will need:
Buttons (Brown and yellow)
Orange and black pens
Card
Glue
Use larger buttons to make the body of your chicks and slightly smaller ones for the head. Make a large brown chicken on the left hand side to be the mother hen, then add two or three smaller ones to the right of her as if they were following behind.
Use your orange marker to add triangular beaks to each chicken. Then, using the same orange marker give each chick two little legs.
Glue a googly eye on to the head button of all the chickens and leave to dry. Once your card is completely dry, use your black marker to add your own special message to the top of the cards. your Easter card is finished! aren’t those little chickens just the cutest!

We have been so busy with crafting over the last couple of days. With my son only being 4 we don’t have a home schooling pack to keep him entertained during this time of schools being closed. We’ve been busy coming up with fun ways to help him learn letters and numbers and also providing him with plenty of fun things to make and craft to break up the day a bit for him. We made this cute little Easter chick corner bookmark to go with our farmyard stories book that we are reading and doesn’t he look adorable!
You will need.
Yellow, orange and white paper
A black marker
Scissors
Glue
To start you will need to make your bookmark. If you haven’t folded one before you can see my guide on how to do it here.
Next you will need to cut out two elongated wing shapes and two little feet as shown above. Glue them down in place on your bookmark.
To make your chick’s face you will need to give him two eyes. We used eye stickers but if you don’t have them you can just cut out two white circles for the eyes and then use your marker to draw on the details. The easiest way to make the beak is to fold a scrap piece of orange paper in half and then cut a triangle from it – using the fold as the triangle base. This should give you a perfect folded diamond shape.
Glue your eyes and beak onto the upper triangle of your bookmark and your super cute little chick is finished! How adorable is he!
