Paper cup Santa puppet

Paper cup Santa puppet

This cute paper cup santa puppet is far easier to make than it looks and can provide children with hours of creative and imaginative fun. We just love how ours turned out, my daughter had so much fun making up cute little puppet shows with him and he’s now sitting in place as a tree topper on her tree!

Here’s what we used

  • Paper cup
  • Card; red black, white, silver, gold, a skin tone
  • Pink and red marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Double sided tape
  • Elastic

How to make our paper cup Santa puppet

Take your skin tone colour paper and cut out a strip wide enough to wrap around your cup and tall enough to cover just under a third of it. Stick It down around the base of the cup.

Cut out a v shaped beard and a moustache from your white card. Glue down the beard first and then add a small patch of glue (or tape!) to then centre of the moustache and stick it down on top of the beard as can be seen in the image above.

Stick on two Googly eyes above the moustache. Then take your markers and draw on a little round nose and a mouth.

Cut out a red santas hat and a little circular bobble to go on the end. Glue the two pieces together and then use your double sided tape (or glue gun!) to attach the hat to the inside rim of the cups base

Now take your black card and cut out a long thin strip of card to make a belt and a small square for the inner part of the buckle. You can cut a slightly bigger square from your gold card to make the outer buckle. Glue the belt around the body and then add the larger square to the centre of the belt with the smaller square on top of it

Cut out two red rectangles for the arms and two long strips for the legs. Accordion fold the leg strips back and forwards to give them some bounce. Next you’ll need to make two black mittens and two black boots. Glue the mittens onto the arms and the boots onto the legs and attach each one to your Santa’s body.

Add any other optional decor; we added a white strip around the hat and a sack of presents on his back.

Finally pierce a small hole into the base of the cup and thread through your length of elastic. Tie a large knot on the inside of the cup to prevent the elastic coming through. Once dry your paper Santa puppet is finished and ready to play with, Isn’t he just adorable!?

Washi tape Christmas cards

Washi tape Christmas cards

These washi tape Christmas cards are super simple to make yet still look amazing! They’re easy to adapt for children of all ages and preschoolers can enjoy making these as much as the older children. It’s a great little craft idea for schools, after school clubs and families and is very budget friendly too!

Here’s what we used

  • Green/yellow/white card
  • Various washi tapes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How to make our washi tape Christmas cards

Start by taking a small length of tape that you will use as your tree trunk and stick it in place at the bottom of your card.

Snip off a length of coloured washi tape that stretches most of the way across the card. Stick it down in place just above the tree trunk.

Continue layering lines of washi tape decreasing the length of the strip each time to make a triangular Christmas tree shape.

Once you are happy with the size of your tree cut out a star and glue it down at the top of the tree

Add any optional decorations and then pop aside. Once dry, your card is finished and ready for a special message to be written inside. We just love these!

Paper snowman craft

Paper snowman craft

This cute and easy paper snowman craft is super simple to make and is an adorable winter or Christmas keepsake that can be kept for years to come! all you need are a few basic materials and our simple to follow guide to keep the kids entertained with this fun little craft on these cold winter days

Here’s what we used

  • Clean cardboard tp rolls (x2 or 3)
  • Paper (white, brown, black and orange)
  • Ribbon
  • Thick cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Glue/double sided tape

How to make our cute paper snowman craft

Start by taking your tp roll tubes and cutting them down to three different lengths. A small one for the head, a medium one for the centre of the body and a large one for the base of the body.

Next take one of your tp roll sections and cut out a strip of white paper the same height as the tube and wide enough to wrap around it. Add double sided tape to the edges of the paper and then secure it around the tube.

Repeat the previous step with the remaining two tp sections until your snowman is completely white. Use your double sided tape to attach the three tubes together as above.

Cut out two stick arms and glue them in place inside the middle tube.

Next cut out and glue on your facial features and some buttons. We cut ours from coloured paper and then used our acrylic paint markers to add the details.

Add any other additional decoration such as our foam hat or ribbon scarf. Then finish off your snowman by cutting out a circular shape from your thick card and sticking it to the bottom of the snowman to help it stand. Aren’t they just the sweetest?
