How adorable is this baby triceratops? My son is mad about all things dinosaur and he just loved making and playing with this little cute hatching dinosaur egg craft. We’ve added it to his dinosaur themed bedroom next and it looks fab!
First we started by making our dinosaur egg. To do this, take the paper plate and cut a zig zag line directly through the middle of it. Take the paints and sponge them across the eggs to decorate them – my kids loved this bit! Once they are finished pop them aside to dry.
Cut out a circle for the dinosaur’s body and then a slightly smaller one for it’s head (you may want to check that they fit the egg before continuing)
Cut out several colourful semi circles to make the triceratops’ frill and then glue them down in place around the top 2/3 of its head.
Now add the triceratops three pointy horns and a triangular beak
Then add two eyes to finish the triceratops’ head
Glue the head circle on to the body circle and then take one half of the dried paper plate egg and glue it onto the front of the triceratops as above. Cut out to little feet and stick them onto the front of the egg so that it looks as if it’s feet are popping out.
Take a split pin and secure the two halves of egg together at one corner. Now the egg can move and the baby dinosaur can hatch! once dry your hatching eggs are finished!
This little toilet roll pterodactyl craft is so sweet and easy to make!
My little boy has always been really interested in dinosaurs. In his toy box he probably has a bigger selection than Jurassic world does. We’ve been collecting them from all over the place since he was really small, Some are new but many are ones that we have picked up in charity shops or at second hand sales. When it comes to dinosaur crafts though we have always struggled – they aren’t the easiest thing to Make! Today my little boy wanted to make some pterodactyls to hang up on his bedroom ceiling so we gave it a whirl and came up with these cuties! We think they look great, what do you think?
Here’s what we used
Empty Toilet rolls
Coloured and white card
Paint and paintbrushes
Scissors
Glue
Black marker
How to make this toilet roll pterodactyl craft
Start by taking your empty toilet roll and coating it in your chosen color of paint. Whilst your toilet roll is aside drying, take your colored card and cut out a diamond shape for the face.
Cut out and glue on two eyes and a triangle beak (we cut out a diamond and folded in half so that the mouth can open and shut!). Glue the pterodactyls’s face on to the toilet roll body
Fold a piece of colored paper in half and draw a wing shape on to it starting at the fold line. Cut out the wings and glue them centrally on the back of the toilet roll.
Cut out two little leg and feet shapes as above and then glue the top of the legs on the inside of the bottom of the toilet roll.
Your toilet roll pterodactyl is finished, don’t these look awesome?!

How adorable is this paper plate triceratops craft? They might actually be one of my favourite crafts that we have ever made! We were inspired to make a dinosaur craft after learning about some dinosaurs from National Geographic’s ultimate dino-pedia book. My little guy loves looking looking at the pictures and learning facts about all the different dinosaurs and this little craft seemed like a fun way to extend the activity. My dino mad son loves his little triceratops’ and has them proudly displayed on his wall. We had so much fun making these little guys and they were just so simple and easy to make too, perfect for my preschool age boy.
If you are not using coloured paper plates you’ll want to start off by painting your paper plate and leaving it to dry. Once dry, take some coloured paper and cut out some semi-circles. Glue them half way around your paper plate to make your Triceratops’ frill.
Next give your triceratops two eyes. We used a white circle, a coloured circle and black circle and stuck them together to make ours.
Then, cut out a rounded triangle for the beak and glue it down just below your triceratops’ eyes.
Finish off by cutting out two curved horns and one straight one. Glue the curved horns on either side of the top of the head and then the straight one in the centre of the beak as you can see above. Your paper plate triceratops is finished! How adorable are they? Totally roarsome!

How cute are these little Triceratops dinosaur corner bookmarks? My son is mad about dinos but we always find it hard to come up with dinosaur themed crafts. So we were pretty pleased with these little guys. I’ve even found that my son is more interested in reading his books too – simply because he wants to use his new bookmarks!
You will need
Coloured crafting paper
Scissors
Pencil
Sticker eyes (optional)
Glue
First you’ll need to start by folding your bookmark. If you haven’t made one before you can find an easy photo guide here.
To make the frill, cut out some semi circles and glue them along the inside of your bookmark. You should need between 4 and 6 depending on how big you cut them.
Cut out a rounded yellow triangle for the beak and glue it down on the outer point of your bookmark. Then, give your triceratops two eyes. We used eye stickers but if you don’t have these you could cut out two white paper circles and draw the details on – or just draw them straight on to your bookmark!
Finish off your triceratops by adding a curved horn to each side of his head and a straight horn to the upper edge of the beak. Once dry, your super roarsome triceratops bookmark is finished and ready to be used!
We had so much fun making these paper cone dinosaurs. My son is obsessed with all things dinosaur and has been since he started walking and talking. We’ve always found dinosaur crafts a bit more difficult to come up with so out of all the paper cone crafts that we’ve made today these awesome paper cone dinosaurs are definitely the ones i’m most proud of!
You will need
Coloured thick craft paper or card.
Eye stickers (optional)
Scissors
Glue
To make the dinosaur bodies.
Take a coloured piece of A4 paper and fold it in half to make a card shape. Then, take a pencil and draw a gradual curve starting from just above the centre of your fold line to the bottom right corner (you’ll need to make sure the curve isn’t too sharp or it won’t match up when folded). Cut out your shape.
Fold your shape in half and trim off any excess to make sure both sides are even.
Open up your shape to reveal your 4 sections Cover one of your end sections in glue..
and then pull it round and stick it down on the back of your other end section to create a triangular cone.
To make the Diplodocus
To start, you will need to make the top of the head. Cut out an arch shape and glue two eyes on to it centrally.
Cut out an oval for the nose and glue it length ways just below the eyes.
Glue two small circles onto the nose to make nostrils and use your marker to make a mouth
Finish off your Diplodocus by gluing the head at the top point and then cutting out a long thin black arch and sticking it in the middle of your cone to make his legs.
To make the triceratops
Cut out a raindrop shape to make the main base of your triceratops face.
Cut out several semi circles and glue them around the top half of the head.
Cut out another raindrop shape to make the triceratops beak and then glue down two eyes.
To finish the face, cut out two curved horns and one straight one. Glue the curved horns either side of the triceratops’ head and the straight one just touching the beak.
Glue the head on to the cone body and then cut out a black arch shape and glue it on to the centre of your cone body to make the legs.
To make the T-rex
Cut out your T-rex head shape in your chosen colour and then draw around it on some red paper. This duplicate red head will make the inside of the mouth.
Fold the face coloured piece upwards just below the eye area and then glue the two eye sections together to give you a T-rex with a big open mouth. Then, Cut out two rows of teeth and glue them down at the top and bottom of the mouth.
Give your T-rex two angry eyes. To make ours, we cut out two white circles and used a black marker to draw on the details.
Glue the T-rex head on to the top point of your cone. Next cut out a black arch shape and secure it centrally at the bottom of the cone body to make his legs. Finish off your T-rex by giving him two short arms.
