Share the love with these adorable heart shaped lovebug cards!

Looking for a simple last minute valentines day or mothers day card? Then look no further! We love these cute little lovebug cards, not only are they super quick to make but they’re great for crafting on a budget too!

This valentines day we’re planning on cuddling up with some snacks and a family movie. What are your family’s plans this valentines day? Do you have any fun valentines traditions? We’d love to hear about them!

Here’s what we used

  • Red and black card
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How to make our heart shaped lovebug cards

Take a piece of red card and fold it in half. Using the folded corner as the point, draw a heart onto your card as you can see above. Remember to leave part of the fold line intact or you’ll end up with two heart shapes rather than one heart card!

Cut out a black semi circle for the head and glue it down inside the front of your card.

Finish off by cutting out two thin strips of black paper, curling them at one end and then gluing them onto the head as antennae. Your little lovebugs are finished! Add a special message to the inside and your cards are ready to gift!

Pom Pom Ladybug pal

Pom Pom Ladybug pal

Pom Pom Ladybug pal

We have hundreds upon hundreds of pom poms in our craft box and we rarely ever get to use them. This is simply because we have a baby in the house who loves to eat everything and anything. Pom poms seem to have a habit of getting everywhere and like all small crafty items prove a choking risk – any parent of a baby knows the process of constantly scouring the floor for any potential edibles! However, the other day she decided have a monstrously long nap. So, my son and i decided to have our own pom pom making party. We had loads of fun and came up with loads of super cute pom pom pals but this pom pom ladybug pal was our firm favourite!

You will need

1 Large red pom pom
1 medium black pom
Several small black pom poms
2 googly eyes
Glue

(we used a glue gun as pom poms can be a bit fiddly!)

Take your head piece (the medium black pom pom) and glue it on to the big red pom pom which will make your ladybug’s body.

Cover your Ladybugs red body in the small black pom poms, these will be your ladybug’s spots. To finish her off, glue on two googly eyes! how cute is this little one! we loved them so much we made a couple and a little paper leaf for them to sit on.

Valentines Lovebug bookmarks

Valentines Lovebug bookmarks

Time seems to be travelling so fast at the moment, Christmas has been and gone and valentines day is right round the corner. Handmade gifts are a fab way to say I love you and these valentines lovebug bookmarks are a really sweet and simple make for children to give to their family and other loved ones this February.

You will need

Coloured foam
Googly eyes
Popsicle stick
Scissors
Coloured paint or felt tip pens.
Glue

Start off by decorating your popsicle sticks with paint or felt tips and then put it aside to dry. Next, take your red foam and cut out a circular shape.

Place your red circle about 1/3 of the way onto your black foam, draw around the edge of your circle to create a small semi-circle. Cut out the semi-circle and glue it on to your red base to create your lovebug’s head.

Cut a thin strip of black foam and glue it down from the base of the head to the bottom of the circle to create two wings. Cut out some small foam hearts and glue some onto each wing.

Now give your lovebug two googly eyes!

Glue your popsicle stick to the back of your lovebug and your bookmark is finished!
