Paper doily lion zoo craft for kids

This Cute paper doily lion craft is perfect for those quiet rainy days at home. We’ve been planning to make some doily crafts for a while now as we have a huge pack of them. My little guy never really liked to use them before as they’re so easy to tear but now he’s a little bit bigger he finds it much easier. The trick is to keep them as dry as possible by using only a little paint. We love how our lions turned out and we’ve added them to our ever growing safari craft collection! Why not have a go at making your own doily lions?

Here’s what we used

  • Paper Doily
  • Paint (We used orange, yellow and brown)
  • Paint sponge
  • Coloured paper
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Take your sponge and lightly dab your coloured paints on to your doily – remember less is more as paper doily’s will quickly tear if they get too wet. When you have finished pop your doily to one side to dry.

Cut out a large coloured circle for the face followed by two small circles for the ears and then two smaller pink circles for the inner ears.

Glue the pink inner ears onto the small orange ears, then glue them in place on the back of your face circle. Glue your lion’s head down onto the doily mane.

Now glue two eyes to your lions face. To make ours we used two large white circles, two slightly smaller black circles and two more small white circles for the light spots.

Cute painted pasta lion card craft for kids

Don’t you just love this cute pasta lion card? With all the hot weather we’ve had this week, crafting has been the last thing on our mind. Thankfully it’s been a cooler today and we decided it was time to wheel the craft drawers back out, especially as we had a birthday card we needed to make! We wanted to make something a bit different and just love how this turned card turned out.

Here’s what we used

  • Dry pasta
  • Orange paint
  • Coloured paper (pink and beige)
  • Card
  • Black marker
  • Eye stickers

How to make our cute pasta lion card

Take your pasta and cover it in your orange paint before putting it aside to dry.

Whilst your pasta is drying it’s time to make the lions face. To make your face shape draw a circle and then add two semi-circles near the top as you can see above. Once you have your shape, cut it out.

Cut out and glue down two small semi circles for the ears and a triangle for the nose.

Scrap paper lion craft

Scrap paper lion craft

Our scrap paper drawer has been busting at the seams of late so we decided it was time that we made another scrap paper craft. We noticed that we had a huge amount of yellow and orange paper so we decided to make something using those colours. My son actually came up with the idea to make a lion, he has a bunch of lion toys and is totally fascinated by them so it was a perfect idea. We worked together to come up with our cute scrap paper lion craft and we think he is totally roarsome!

Here’s what we used.

  • Coloured scrap paper (beige, yellow, orange, brown etc)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Backing sheet of paper

How to make our scrap paper lion craft.

Start off your lion by making his face. The easiest way to do this is to draw a circle onto your paper and then draw two semi-circles close together at the top of the circle to make ears. Then cut out your lions face shape.

Cut out and glue down a pink rounded triangle for your lion’s nose and two semi circles for the inner ears.

Give your lion two eyes and then use your black marker to draw on a mouth and some whiskers.

Glue your lion’s face on to your backing paper. Then, take your scrap paper and cut it onto strips. Finish off your awesome scrap paper lion craft by gluing your strips in a circle around your lion to make his mane. Doesn’t he look fab!

We would love to see how your lion turned out. Parents, did you know you can share them with us on facebook and twitter?

Fluffy hand print lion craft

hand print lion craft

How adorable is this fluffy hand print lion craft? We actually came up with this cute little craft whilst making our fluffy hand print sheep. Looking at the wreath we made whilst making the sheep i thought, this would make a fab lion! I love hand print crafts, once my son is fed up with them i like to keep them stashed away as keepsakes to look back on when he’s older and spending time crafting with mummy isn’t cool anymore. Not only are these lions really simple to make, they only require basic resources too. So why not give this cute lion craft a go!

You will need

  • Coloured paper/card (we used light orange, dark orange, light brown and yellow)
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes

First you’ll need to make your hand print template by drawing around little one’s hand and then cutting out the hand print . We normally make a template to draw around rather than draw around my little guys hand over and over simply because he says its too tickly!

Use your hand print template to draw around and cut out more hand prints. You will need 7-10 depending in how big the hand prints are and how the fingers are positioned. We eventually used 9 hand prints.

Glue your hand prints down at the palms in a round wreath shape to make the lion’s mane.
