Pipe cleaner flowers

These sweet little pipe cleaner flowers are Just adorable! Once you’re used to the process they’re super easy to make and are such a cute little project for older children to make and gift or keep and display!

Here’s what we used

  • Pipe cleaners

How to make these cute pipe cleaner flowers

Start by taking two of the same colored pipe cleaner and twisting them together to make one large stem.

Fold a small loop near the center of the pipe cleaner and then twist it secure at the point where the two pipe cleaners were joined.

Create a second loop next to the first and twist it at the same center point to secure it.

Repeat this step to create a total of 5 or 6 loops and then twist the loose end around the center of the flower to secure it.

Take the pipe cleaner that you will be using for the center of the flower and wrap it around the center of the flower going in and out of each petal as you do. Secure it in place by tucking the end in under the center piece you just wrapped.

Next take the green pipe cleaner and push it up under the back of the center pipe cleaner. Bend the top of it down over the centre to secure. Finally add a leaf by folding a small piece of pipe cleaner into a loop and then twisting in onto the stem. The flower is finished and ready to gift or display; Why not repeat this process until you have a whole bunch of flowers!

Bookworm bookmarks

Bookworm bookmarks

These adorable little bookworm bookmarks are so sweet and simple. They’re perfect for young readers or as a handmade gift for loved ones! We originally made one for Granny but i liked them so much that my little guy wanted to make one for me too and aren’t they just the sweetest?

Heres what we used

  • Coloured card
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes
  • Pen

How to make these bookworm bookmarks

Start by cutting out the rectangle shape of your bookmark. Then take your scissors and cut out 6-8 little circles. Glue them into an zig-zag pattern to make the bookworm’s body.

Add a face to your bookworm. For ours we added two googly eyes, a paper mouth and two antennae. Once the eyes had secured a little we used a pen to draw around them and add some glasses.

Next it’s time to make book. Cut out a rectangle strip of card that is the same height as your bookmark and then fold it in half to make the book. Trim the width as necessary. Then cut out a slightly smaller rectangle from your white paper and glue it into the centre of the book to make the pages. Use a marker to add a special message.

How adorable are these little yarn tassel doll charms? They were actually inspired by our yarn ghost charms that we made. I noticed how much the tassels looked like dresses and out sprung the idea for this little craft. My son has really enjoyed making these to gift to his nan and aunties, he found them a bit tricky at the start but soon picked it up. He’s also made one to gift to his cousin to go on her school bag – such a cute idea!

Heres what we used

(small objects can be choking hazards, this activity is best suited to older children and children should be supervised at all times)

How to make a tassel doll keyring

First you’ll need to cut out a rectangle from your cardboard, it doesn’t need to be anything fancy – you can see here that were using a battered up piece of cereal box! You’ll need to make sure the height of the rectangle matches the length you want your tassel to be.

Starting at the bottom side, take your yarn and begin wrapping it around your cardboard. Make sure it’s secure but not so tight that it buckles your cardboard. Continue wrapping it around and then once you have reached your desired thickness cut it off at the bottom side where you first started.

Cut off a length of yarn and fold it in half. Then, tie a loop at the centre fold.

Using the two loose ends, tie your loop tightly around the centre of your yarn.

Slip your yarn off of your cardboard. Turn it inside out so that the loop is outside and on top as you can see above.

Place your scissors through the loops and then gently snip them open. I find that the best way to ensure that the ends are snipped evenly is to pull downwards as I snip to ensure I’m snipping the bottom center of each loop.

Now cut two lengths of yarn. Tie one just below the top of your tassel to create the dress shape and the other onto the loop just above your tassel to create arms.

Take your wooden bead and draw your dolls face on to it before threading it onto your loop. Finish off by adding a keying onto the top of your loop. Don’t these yarn tassel doll charms look adorable?
