Handmade gifts are a great way to show someone special a little bit of love. These super cute snowman sweet jars were so easy make, I made these for the kids in our family and filled them full of their favorite sweets/chocolates for Christmas and they just LOVED them! These are also great as homemade hot choccy jars too!
Here’s what i used
Jars
Yarn
Pom pom maker
Scissors
Googly eyes
Coloured pom poms
Coloured felt
Pipecleaner
How to make a snowman sweet jar
Start by making a large pom pom roughly the same size as the lid of your jar. If you haven’t made a pom pom before you can find an easy guide to making one with and without a pom pom maker here.
Next we need to make the snowman’s cozy earmuffs. To do this take a small length of pipecleaner and glue a pom pom on both ends. Add any other optional decorations such as bows and the glue the ear muffs into place on the pom pom snowman.
Glue on two Googly eyes and a pom pom nose
Next cut out a long strip of coloured felt to make the scarf. Make several snips in each end and then use your glue gun to attach the scarf onto the jar lid as above.
Glue the pom pom head onto the scarf and jar lid and once dry your snowman sweet jars are finished! These are great as homemade Christmas decor or for gifting to loved ones!
Yes, I know its not even October yet but it’s never to early to start thinking about Christmas! We actually made these last year right before Christmas but we were so busy get ready for the big day that I didn’t actually get around to sharing them in time. These adorable cupcake liner Christmas cards were so easy for the older kids to make and look just as good as any store bought alternative, which is why i’m sharing them in september – just in case I forgot them again (i probably would!!)
Here’s what we used
Cupcake cases
Coloured card
Scissors
Glue
How to make these cupcake liner Christmas cards.
Take your first cupcake liner and fold it in half with the design facing outwards. Fold the two end corners into the bottom middle of the cupcake case to make a triangular shape.
Add some glue to the folded sides of the cupcake case and secure it down onto your card. Then repeat the previous step with another cake case but this time fold it 2/3rs of the way inwards instead of to the centre so that its a bit wider. Glue your second cupcake case down tucked just inside the first cake case.
Repeat this process a third time, this time only fold the sides in about 1/3rd of the way to the centre so that its bigger again. Glue the third cupcake case down so that its tucked just inside the middle one.
Cut out and glue a star as your tree topper and a rectangle for the trunk. Add any optional decorations and a message inside then the card is ready to gift!
How cute is this paper flower pot craft? We had so much fun making these to brighten up our living room! They look fab on display and make great handmade gifts for mothers day, valentines day, birthdays, teacher gifts and more!
Here’s what we used
Coloured paper
Glue
2 Paper cups
Bamboo skewer
Paint & paintbrush
Scissors
A button
How to make this cute paper flower pot craft
First start by painting one of the cups to make the plant pot. Then take the second cup and chop off a small section from the bottom. Paint this section the color you want your flower to be planted in; we used brown for soil. Then finally take your skewer and color it green to make the stem. pop them aside to dry – We used a small piece of polystyrene to stand our stem up in whilst it was drying.
Take the colored paper that you will be using for the flower head and cut it into 6-8 equal strips of paper. Glue your strips together at the center to form a sun shape as in the above picture.
Take the end of each strip and glue it down at the center
of the flower.
Continue this process with all of the strips and then glue down the button to make the center of the flower.
Attach your painted stem to the back of your the flower. Then cut out a strip of green paper and glue the two ends together to make a leaf. Glue the leaf onto the stem and repeat as desired.
Glue the end piece of cup down inside the plant pot cup so that the base is facing upwards. Pierce the flower stem through the upturned cup and then through the base of your plant pot cup so that it stands stiff. TIP: if your cup has a flat base rather than a raised base then a lump of blu tack in the bottom of the plant pot cup will give the stem something to stick in to. Add any extra decoration and once dry the flower is ready to display or gift!
How cute is this simple toilet roll flower craft? These little flowers are a great project for kids to work on with a grownup. They look fabulous on display and are perfect for gifting for mothers day or valentines day too!
Heres what we used
Paper rolls
Paint & a paintbrush (we used green for the stem and leaves & yellow for the petals)
Black marker
coloured paper
Scissors
Glue (we used a glue gun but pva and pegs work too!)
How to make this toilet roll flower craft
Start by taking the paper rolls and stem item and coating them in colored paint. we used one yellow roll, one green roll and one painted green skewer (with the pointy end chopped off!) Per flower.
Cut your coloured paper roll into 5-7 rings. For this flower we used 5.
Pinch the rings at each side to form the petal shapes. Using a blob of glue at one end, glue a petal on either side of the stem. Then continue to glue the petals around ensuring they are glued to the petal on either side of it.
Cut out a coloured circle to make the centre of the flower and use a black marker to add some seeds. Glue the circle down in place.
Take the green paper roll and cut out some thin green rings. Pinch them at either end to make the leaf shape and then glue them onto the stem. Once dry your toilet roll flower craft is finished! Aren’t these just the sweetest?
How cute are these yarn wrapped hearts – Perfect for gifting!
It’s a little bit late to be sharing these for valentines day but we made them a couple of days ago and I think they are just too cute not to share! These little hearts are so sweet and fun to craft and are fab as little handmade gifts for children to make and gift for valentines day, mothers day, fathers day, birthdays and much more. The best part is that they’re so simple and quick to make too!
Here’s what you’ll need
A piece of cardboard (an old box will do!)
Yarn
Stapler or tape
How to make these yarn wrapped hearts
Take a piece of old cardboard and cut out the base shape of your heart. Attach the end of the yarn onto the heart using either tape or staples.
Wrap the yarn around the heart several times until you get a nice thick and puffy heart shape. Don’t worry if the yarn slips during the first couple of rounds, it gets easier as the heart gets bigger and you have more yarn for it to catch on. Once you’re happy with the size of the heart, snip off the yarn and tie your loose end around one of the strands on the heart before gentle tucking the loose end into the heart.
To use the yarn heart as a hanging ornament simply cut out a length of yarn, thread it under the yarn at the top center of the heart and tie it into a knot.
