Share the love with this adorable little toilet roll love bug craft!
With everything that’s been going on, Christmas and new year seem to have passed in the blink of an eye and valentines day is almost here already. It seems to us that valentines day is more important now than ever, its a special day for us to share some love with our family and we can’t wait to make and post some fun little valentines gifts/cards.
Heres what we used
Toilet roll
Black/white card
Black/white paper
Pipe cleaners
Scissors
Glue
How to make a toilet roll love bug
Start by taking your empty toilet roll and coating it in your chosen paint and popping it aside to dry. Once dry add two eyes – we used white paper ovals and drew the details on with a marker. Cut out a heart shape for the wings, then fold each side of the heart just off center to create a small section that you can use to glue down the heart shaped wings.
Twist a pipe cleaner around the toilet roll between the eyes and wings so that you have two equal lengths. Curl the ends of the pipe cleaners around to make the antennae.
Finish off by adding some decorations to your love bug! With this one we used a hole punch to cut some little black paper spots to stick on but little hearts look fab too and you can be as creative as you like!
Your little toilet roll love bug craft is finished and don’t they look adorable?
I love sitting down with a festive movie and wrapping up the Christmas presents, Unfortunately I’m not very good at it. I always end up with random pieces left over here and there and no idea what to do with them. It makes me think of my late great gran who every year used to meticulously open her presents so she didn’t damage the Paper. She’d then iron it out and pop it in the cupboard to reuse the next year, waste not want not! Which is exactly what led us to making this super cute wrapping paper Christmas card design.
Here’s what we used
Card
Wrapping paper offcuts
Ribbon
Scissors
Glue
How to make this wrapping paper Christmas card
First start by making the shape of the card you want to make, for this one we folded an A5 peice of card and trimmed it into a square.
Take the wrapping paper and cut out the shape of the present, we chose a square to match the card. Glue it down on the front of your Christmas card.
Take two lengths of ribbon and cut one to the length of the wrapping paper and one to width of the wrapping paper. Glue the strips down centrally across the presents to make a plus sign.
Take another length of ribbon and tie it into a bow. I will be uploading some videos on how to tie bows but for now there are some excellent videos on YouTube if you need some help. Glue the bow in place at the top of the present, then add a special message if desired and the card is finished! Aren’t these cute? Such a fun way to use up old wrapping paper.
We’ve had a busy few weeks making valentines cards and gifts for my son to give to his loved ones. These little handmade berry heart gifts have been drying on our shelf for a lot longer than planned but we’ve finally got around to painting them. I think they look pretty cute and my son was really pleased with them (and himself) too! They’re really simple to make and are perfect as handmade gifts for valentines day, mothers day and many other occasions! You can use either Salt dough or clay, We used air drying clay as we have a tonne to use up but salt-dough works great too, you will just need to bake them until they are solid enough to paint!
You will need
Clay or salt dough
Red, yellow, green paint and paintbrush
Card/paper
Scissors
Knife (for cutting out shapes)
Ribbon
Hole punch
First you will need to create your heart shapes. We usually roll out our clay (or salt-dough) and then cut out a paper heart to use as a template to cut around. Once you have your heart, pierce a hole in the top centre so you can thread your ribbon through later on. If you used air drying clay they will need to be put aside for 1-2 days however if you used salt dough just pop them in the oven and bake until dried and hard.
Once dry, coat them in red paint and allow to dry.
Splodge some green paint around the top centre to make the stalk and then use the end of a paintbrush or a q-tip to dot on some yellow seeds.
Cut out your tag shape and use a hole punch to make a hole at the top. Take your chosen ribbon and thread it through the hole in your berry and then through your tag. Secure the two loose ends by tying them in a knot.
Add your special message to your tag and all that is left to do is gift your berry to a loved one!
My partner has had a busy few weeks so my son and i thought we would make him a present. This DIY desk tidy is perfect for him to display at the office or on his computer table at home. My son was really chuffed with the result and so was i. What’s great too is that is that this diy desk tidy gift craft cost barely anything to make and was a really fun project for me and my son to sit and make together.
You will need
Tp rolls
Cardboard
Paintbrush and paint
A peg
Glue gun
Scissors
A photo
Items to decorate, we used stick on letters and other stickers that we had lying about
Take your piece of cardboard (we used a bit of old box) and cut it in to a rectangle to make the base. Now cut your TP rolls so that they are each a different length.
Paint your Tp rolls, Peg and carboard base in your chosen colours and put them aside to dry.
Once dry, use your glue gun to stick your cardboard tubes and peg in place on your base.
Finish decorating your desk tidy by adding some stickers and any additional decoration pieces. Now all that is left to do is add your photo to the peg holder and either gift or display your cool new craft!

These heart shaped sweet cones are really sweet, simple and cheap to make. We love them and are planning on making a whole bunch of them for my sons class at school. All you need to do is pop a layer of cling film over them and they’re easy to transport and gift. One paper plate makes two heart cones so a pack goes a long way. Why not show loved ones how appreciated they are this valentines or mothers day with some tasty treats!
You will need
Paper plate Double sided tape Red paint & paintbrush White paper Scissors Pen
The first thing you will need to do is cut your paper plate in half. Put one half aside and take your other half to make your sweet heart cone.
Bring your two corner points together to meet in the middle. overlap the two sides slightly in the centre and secure them together with double sided tape.
flatten your cone shape so that you can cut both sides at once. Take your scissors and cut the open ends of your cone into the top of your heart as shown above.
Cover your heart cone inside and out with red paint and put it aside to dry.
Take your white paper and cut out an oval shape to make your label. Write the name of the person who you are going to give your heart to on the label. Glue in onto the front of your heart cone. Now all you have to do is fill your heart cone with yummy sweet treats!
