Tomorrow is the first of October and that means it’s officially the start of spooky season! We can’t wait to start decorating the house and today we’ve been busy making these fun tp roll Halloween bats which we’re going to turn into a spooky garland for the conservatory. We still have plenty left to make on the weekend when my son is home but I think it’s going to look amazing!
Here’s what we used
Tp roll
Coloured paints and paintbrush
Coloured card
Pipe cleaner
Coloured paper
Scissors
Glue/tape
How to make these TP roll Halloween bats
Take the toilet roll and cover it in the chosen colour of paint before popping it aside to dry.
Cut out two triangle ears and glue a slightly smaller triangle onto each one to make the inner ears. Once the tp roll is dry attach the ears inside one end of the roll.
Cut out two white circle eyes and then glue a circle pupil onto each one. Glue the eyes on to the front of the bat then finish the face by adding a mouth and two pointy triangle fangs.
Next, Cut out the shape of the bat’s wings and stick them onto the back of the toilet roll bat.
Finally, Take the pipe cleaners and twist three loops in one end of each to make the feet. Stick the other end of the pipe cleaner leg down in place inside the bottom end of the toilet roll. Once dry your bat is ready to display!
Autumn is my favorite season and with it comes one of my favorites holidays – Halloween! The raincoats and scarves are already out which we’ve taken as a sign that its time to start making some homemade decorations for the spooky season. My kids aren’t really into trick or treating, they’d rather go to a Halloween party or just stay home, dress up and watch a movie which sounds perfect to me! One thing we do love to do together though is decorate the house. so today we’ve started making our decorations with this fun paper plate shape pumpkin craft! These are great practice for children like my daughter who are just learning their shapes.
Here’s what we used
Paper plate
Orange paint and paintbrush
Black/green/brown paper
Scissors
Glue
How to make a paper plate shape pumpkin
Take the paper plate and cover it completely in orange paint before popping it aside to dry.
From the black paper cut out several different shapes that can be used to make the pumpkins face. We used triangles, squares and circles. Glue the shapes down onto the paper plate to make the face.
Cut out and glue on a shape for the stalk and leaf then put to one side to dry. Once completely dry the paper plate pumpkins are ready to display!
We’d love to see what pumpkin designs your little ones make! Did you know you can now share them with us on Facebook?
It’s been a quiet couple of weeks on the crafting front. Like many others we’ve slowly been trying to adjust to the new school routine with the new covid regulations that are in place. Whilst we still find time for crafting its obviously not as much as it was before and when we do the quality time is so nice that i often forget to take pictures of our craft ideas! Don’t worry though, going forwards I’ll still be sharing plenty of craft ideas, just sometimes without the help of my little sidekick! I’m still missing him massively during the days but it’s so fab to see him playing with the other children and learning new things every day! Right now he’s been getting really excited about Halloween. He’s already picked out his scooby doo costume and can’t wait until we can go get his pumpkin to carve. Hence today’s craft, these cute and easy cupcake liner Halloween pumpkins!
Here’s what we used
Orange cupcake liner
Black, brown and green markers
Glue
Position the cupcake liners flat on a piece of paper and then secure them down with glue.
Draw faces on to each cupcake case using a black pen. This is a great time to talk about different emotions with your little ones. Is their pumpkin happy or sad or angry etc?
Finish off the pumpkins by adding a stalk, leaf and tendril. Arent they just the cutest? Such a fun and easy way to keep little ones entertained. These little cupcake liner Halloween pumpkins look fab on handmade Halloween cards too!
Inspired by our earlier paper plate spider web craft, this laced paper plate pumpkin is a real cutie. We love these lacing crafts, they’re so relaxed and often we make ours whilst lounging out on the sofas. My little guy particularly likes them as they give him a lot to focus on and think about. It may seem a little early to start on the Halloween crafts but we have so many that we wanted to share that it’s never too early to start!
Heres what we used
Orange (or painted orange) Paper plate
Orange yarn
Black felt or card
Scissors
Glue
Hole punch
How to make our laced paper plate pumpkin craft.
Take your paper plate and cut out a large circle from the centre, leaving just a small edge of the inner plate.
Now take your hole punch and make several similary spaced holes around the inside of your paper plate.
Take a good length of orange yarn and sellotape one end to the back of your paper plate. Then take the other end of your yarn and begin threading it in and out of the holes. You could either follow a pattern of going from one side to the other or you could thread it at random as we did. Once you have threaded through each hole. Take the loose end and sellotape it to the back as you did before.
Now take your black felt (or card) and cut out the shapes for your pumpkin’s face. Use a dab of glue and attach it to the front of your laced yarn.
To hang your paper plate pumpkin simply punch a hole in the center top and tie a loop through it. Your laced paper plate pumpkin craft is finished and ready to display!
Its never too early for a Halloween craft. It’s always so much fun every year crafting decorations and making costumes (or buying them from the supermarket when we leave it too Late!). We don’t know what Halloween will be like with the current covid situation but we do know it probably won’t be the same this year. However that doesn’t mean we can’t eat some treats and dress the house from head to toe with cute handmade Halloween décor. This year we’re preparing early with this awesome toilet roll pumpkin family craft!
Here’s what we used
Toilet roll
Orange paint and paintbrush
Black, brown and green paper
Scissors
Glue
How to make our toilet roll pumpkin family craft
Take your toilet rolls and cut them down in to various lengths. Paint each toilet roll using your orange paint and then put them aside to dry.
Now its time for the fun part! Use your black paper to cut out and stick on a face for each of your pumpkins.
Cut out a brown stalk and then take a thin piece of green paper and curl it around either itself or a toothpick to make a tendril. Glue your tendril onto your stalk and then glue the stalk on the inside of your toilet roll. Your super cute toilet roll pumpkin family craft is finished. Don’t they look spooktacular?
