After making our adorable Toilet roll humpback whales the other day, my little boy was absolutely determined that we should make some more whale designs. So today we’re sharing this cute toilet roll orca whale craft with you! My little guy designed these by himself and did most of the work by himself too. He is so pleased with them and has been playing with them non stop for the last hour, he really loves them and i think they are pretty cute too!
Here’s what we used
Toilet roll
Black and white paper
Black and pink paint and paintbrush
Scissors
Glue
Googly eyes
How to make a Toilet roll orca whale
Take the paper roll and coat the inside of one end in the pink paint before painting the outside black and then popping it aside to dry.
Cut out the shape of the whale’s tail and glue it in place inside the toilet roll body. Then cut out two fin shapes and fold a small tab at the base of each that you can then use to glue them onto either side of the whale.
Cut out two white ovals and glue them near the head of the whale. Add some more white patches around the tail of the whale.
Glue a googly eye on either side of the whale. Optionally cut out and glue on a third fin on top of the whale as the dorsal fin. Leave to dry and once done the toilet roll orca whale is finished!
If you have been following our blog, you will know that my little boy just LOVES all things under the sea. He’s always teaching me new things that he has learned from his books and from watching the documentaries on Disney +. Whales in particular are his all time favourite creatures. So, for the last few days we’ve been super busy making some fun whale craft ideas to share with you! We started off with this adorable paper plate orca whale and we just love him – he looks so sweet (though my son assures me real killer whales are not so sweet!). This simple little craft is easy to make and bound to be a hit with any young ocean enthusiasts!

How to make a paper plate orca whale
Take the paper plate and cover the top 3/4 in black paint before popping aside to dry. (for younger children it may be easier to just paint the whole plate black and then cut out and glue on a small section of another plain white plate as we did with my youngest)
Cut out the leaf shape of the whale’s flippers and dorsal fins then glue them down in position on the back of the paper plate.
Glue on two inwards facing white arches on either side of the paper plate near where the eyes will be.
Cut out two large ovals for the outer eyes, two slightly smaller black circles for the pupils and two small white circles for the light spots. Glue the pieces together and then onto the paper plate. Cut out and stick down a semi circle mouth and then once dry the paper plate orca is finished!
We recently visited a local play farm and the kids had the most amazing day playing there and learning about the different animals and their needs. We’ve been making a lot of animal crafts recently but we noticed we hadn’t really made any farmyard ones. Their favorite animals at the farm were the giant pigs so we decided to make something piggy first and this wiggly paper plate pig craft is just so adorable!

How to make a paper plate pig
Take the paper plate and paint it pink before popping it aside to dry.
Cut out a large pink circle for the pig’s head. Cut out two pink triangular ears and two smaller inner ears. Glue them together and then onto the top of the pig’s head.
Cut out a large oval for the pigs snout and glue it down centrally on the circle. Add two small oval nostrils, a semi circle mouth and two small round eyes.
To give the pig it’s fun little wobble, Cut out two long thin strips of paper and glue them together at a right angle. Take turns folding the strips one over the other and glue together at the end to make a spring.
Glue one end of the spring to the centre of the paper plate and the other to the back of the pig’s head.
Cut out two rectangle legs and two black square trotters. Glue a trotter at one end of each leg and then glue the other end of each leg onto the back of the paper plate.
Take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around a pencil to make a curly tail. Glue or tape the tail in place and once dry the paper plate pig is finished!
We’re back again with yet another toilet roll craft idea! This sweet and simple toilet roll bumble bee craft was perfect for some sunny day crafting. My little boy had so much fun making our old yarn wrapped bees but sadly they’re looking a little bit on the sad and sorry side so we decided it was time to make some more bumbles to play with. We just love how cute these turned out!
Here’s what we used
Empty toilet rolls
Black, white and yellow paper
Wiggly eyes
Pipe Cleaner

How sweet is this dolphin craft? The kids have been extra busy this week making more paper plate animals to decorate their bedroom wall. Today we wanted to do something simple and easy that would suit my youngest and this little paper plate dolphin was just perfect!

Paper plate
Blue paint and paintbrush
Coloured paper
Black marker
Scissors
Glue
How to make a paper plate dolphin
Take your paper plate and coat it in the blue paint before popping it aside to dry.
Cut the paper plate in half and pop one half aside. Take the other half and cut it in half to make two quarter slices. Cut one of the quarters in half and dispose of one of the sections so that you have the same shapes left as shown in the photo.
Glue the quarter triangle down on to the corner of the half paper plate to make the tail. Then take the small triangle and glue it on the back of the half paper plate to make the fin.
Add an eye and a mouth and the super cute paper plate dolphin is finished! So sweet and simple – great for preschoolers!
