Toilet roll camouflage binoculars

Toilet roll camouflage binoculars

These toilet roll camouflage binoculars provide hours of cheap fun and are a great way to get the kids outside! We used ours whilst exploring the environment and completing my free printable nature scavenger hunt.

Here’s what we used

  • Clean Cardboard rolls
  • Coloured card
  • Coloured papers
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Glue gun and an adult OR pva glue
  • String

How to make toilet roll camouflage binoculars!

Cut out a strip of card the same height as the tp roll and long enough to wrap around it. Glue the card and wrap it around the toilet roll.

Repeat the above step to make the other side of the binoculars.

Glue a thin black strip around both ends of each toilet roll to make the rim of the binoculars.

Next cut out several patches from your coloured papers and glue them down randomly on each tube to create a camouflage effect

Glue the two tubes of the binoculars together and then finally take a length of string and glue an end down inside each tube on the outer edge of the roll. I used a glue gun for my kid’s binoculars but pva glue will work perfectly too, you’ll just need to make to sure your child’s binoculars are completely dry before they’re played with!

Here’s what we used

  • Pipe cleaners

How to make these cute pipe cleaner flowers

Start by taking two of the same colored pipe cleaner and twisting them together to make one large stem.

Fold a small loop near the center of the pipe cleaner and then twist it secure at the point where the two pipe cleaners were joined.

Create a second loop next to the first and twist it at the same center point to secure it.

Repeat this step to create a total of 5 or 6 loops and then twist the loose end around the center of the flower to secure it.

Take the pipe cleaner that you will be using for the center of the flower and wrap it around the center of the flower going in and out of each petal as you do. Secure it in place by tucking the end in under the center piece you just wrapped.

Next take the green pipe cleaner and push it up under the back of the center pipe cleaner. Bend the top of it down over the centre to secure. Finally add a leaf by folding a small piece of pipe cleaner into a loop and then twisting in onto the stem. The flower is finished and ready to gift or display; Why not repeat this process until you have a whole bunch of flowers!

Paper rainbow craft

Paper rainbow craft

Looking out of our window this morning we spotted a huge rainbow spreading out across the field it was so strong and beautiful that we decided to have a go at making our own cute paper rainbow! This budget friendly craft is a great way to welcome in spring and is super easy to make too!

Here’s what we used

  • Coloured paper
  • White paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How to make our paper rainbow craft

Cut out 5-7 strips of paper, they should be roughly equal in width but varying length. We initially cut ours to them same length and then dropped them by one cm each time to give us strips that were 18cm, 17cm,16cm, 15cm, 14cm, 13cm and 12cm.

Fold a small tab (1-2cm) at both ends of each strip. We folded ours around a Popsicle stick to ensure each tab was the same size.

Cut out a piece of paper to make the base, then take the shortest strip and glue it onto the base using the folded tabs as you can see above.

Next take the second shortest strip and glue the tabs over the top of the previous tabs to created the second layer of the rainbow.

repeat this process continuing with the next shortest strip until you finish with the longest.

Finally cut out two small cloud shapes and glue them either side of the rainbow to cover the tabs. Once dry your little one’s paper rainbow craft is finished and ready to display!

Free Nature scavenger hunt printable

Free Nature scavenger hunt printable

This free nature scavenger hunt printable is a great way to get outdoors with the kids and celebrate the warmer weather! We took our copies to the local lake and the kids had a great time running around looking for the different items on the list. We made two versions, one with labels for my youngest and one with blank labels for my eldest to fill out himself, it was a great way to encourage him to practise his writing and to make it extra fun we took a camera so they could take turns taking pictures of their findings!
