How adorable is this baby triceratops? My son is mad about all things dinosaur and he just loved making and playing with this little cute hatching dinosaur egg craft. We’ve added it to his dinosaur themed bedroom next and it looks fab!
First we started by making our dinosaur egg. To do this, take the paper plate and cut a zig zag line directly through the middle of it. Take the paints and sponge them across the eggs to decorate them – my kids loved this bit! Once they are finished pop them aside to dry.
Cut out a circle for the dinosaur’s body and then a slightly smaller one for it’s head (you may want to check that they fit the egg before continuing)
Cut out several colourful semi circles to make the triceratops’ frill and then glue them down in place around the top 2/3 of its head.
Now add the triceratops three pointy horns and a triangular beak
Then add two eyes to finish the triceratops’ head
Glue the head circle on to the body circle and then take one half of the dried paper plate egg and glue it onto the front of the triceratops as above. Cut out to little feet and stick them onto the front of the egg so that it looks as if it’s feet are popping out.
Take a split pin and secure the two halves of egg together at one corner. Now the egg can move and the baby dinosaur can hatch! once dry your hatching eggs are finished!
How adorable is this fluffy little paper plate sheep craft? It’s so easy and cheap to make and is great for keeping the kids entertained on rainy days like today! my 3yo loved sticking on the cotton wool balls and my nearly 6yo did an amazing job cutting out the shapes and making his own paper plate sheep.
Here’s what we used

Start by covering the paper plate in glue and then covering it with the cotton wool balls.
Cut out a mushroom shape from the black card to make the sheep’s head. Glue two large Googly eyes onto the sheep’s face and then using your glue or some double sided tape, glue the sheep’s face on to the middle of it’s body.
Cut out two black rectangles for the legs and glue them onto the bottom of the paper plate. Once dry the sheep is finished and ready to display! This craft is great for grownups to make with toddlers and pre-schoolers!
How fun are these paper plate rainbow fish? We had so much fun making these to add my kid’s animal wall! Both my children love watching ocean documentaries and learning about the various creatures big and small that live under the sea. Whales are usually the favourite but recently my son’s grandfather was given an old 3D tv and my little guy loves to watch the different coloured fish swimming around in front of him. So inspired by that we decided to create our own Rainbow coloured fish and we just love them!
Here’s what we used
Paper plates
Tissue Paper
Coloured paint and paintbrush
Wiggly eye
Pink paper
Scissors
Glue
How to make a paper plate rainbow fish
For each fish you will need one and a half paper plates. Coat these plates in the chosen colour paint and pop aside to dry.
Once dry take your half paper plate and cut in in half to create two triangles. Glue one triangle onto the back of the paper plate to make the tail. Then, take the other triangle and cut it in half downwards from the point to give you two smaller triangles. Glue one of these triangles on an angle at the top of the paper plate and one at the bottom to make the fins.
Cut out several tissue paper circles to make the scales and glue them over the back 2/3rds of the fish’s body
Add a Wiggly eye and a cute heart shaped mouth and once dry the paper plate rainbow fish is finished!
We’re back again today with yet another ocean themed craft. We absolutely love this cute handprint fish craft! Each little fish turns out sweet and unique which makes this craft perfect for both crafting at home or crafting at groups such as preschools or toddler groups. We had so much fun making these, my little guy has made a whole aquarium to cover his door. He loves all things ocean and really wants us to get a saltwater tank – I wouldn’t know where to start though!
Heres what we used
Plain and coloured paper
Coloured paints
Scissors
Glue
Black Marker
Eye stickers
First you will need to take your pencil and draw around little one’s hands. Then, cut out the handprints that you have just made.
Now it’s time for the fun part! Use your paint to colour in your handprints and make your own cool fish designs. Then, put them aside to dry.
Once dry, glue your fish down in place on your paper. Give each of your fish an eye and a mouth and then cut out and stick down some circle bubbles.
Finish off your awesome ocean picture by adding some seaweed and any other little details. Doesn’t this Cute handprint fish craft just look adorable?
Our scrap paper drawer has been busting at the seams of late so we decided it was time that we made another scrap paper craft. We noticed that we had a huge amount of yellow and orange paper so we decided to make something using those colours. My son actually came up with the idea to make a lion, he has a bunch of lion toys and is totally fascinated by them so it was a perfect idea. We worked together to come up with our cute scrap paper lion craft and we think he is totally roarsome!
Here’s what we used.
Coloured scrap paper (beige, yellow, orange, brown etc)
Glue
Scissors
Marker
Backing sheet of paper
How to make our scrap paper lion craft.
Start off your lion by making his face. The easiest way to do this is to draw a circle onto your paper and then draw two semi-circles close together at the top of the circle to make ears. Then cut out your lions face shape.
Cut out and glue down a pink rounded triangle for your lion’s nose and two semi circles for the inner ears.

Give your lion two eyes and then use your black marker to draw on a mouth and some whiskers.
Glue your lion’s face on to your backing paper. Then, take your scrap paper and cut it onto strips. Finish off your awesome scrap paper lion craft by gluing your strips in a circle around your lion to make his mane. Doesn’t he look fab!
We would love to see how your lion turned out. Parents, did you know you can share them with us on facebook and twitter?
