Lollipop stick pals

Lollipop stick pals

lollipop stick pal bookmark and puppet craft for kids,

These lollipop stick pals are our favorite kind of craft, each child creates their own designs and at the end you have a variety of different ideas – each one awesome and unique! The kids loved making these and were using them to put on puppet shows from under the table before finally deciding to use them as homemade bookmarks. This little craft is great for groups, simply put out a variety of materials for the children to use!

Here’s what we used

  • Wide lollipop stick
  • Paint or felt tip pens
  • Googly eyes
  • Coloured paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Optional decoration bits and pieces

How we made our lollipop stick pals

Using pens or paint colour in the lollipop stick and leave it to dry.

Take the pipe cleaner and shape the ends as desired to make the hands before twisting it on to the lollipop stick.

To make the hands for this bookmark we bent three bumps into the end of the pipe cleaner then twisted the length of the pipe cleaner between one of the bumps to secure before shaping with our hands. We then repeated this on the other side.

Add some fun facial features to the top of the lollipop stick bookmark

Popsicle stick dragonflies

Popsicle stick dragonflies

Popsicle stick dragonfly craft for kids

Following my last post with the popsicle stick bumble bees I wanted to share these cute little popsicle stick dragonflies with you all. They’re really similar to the bees and just as simple to make. Dragonflies are so beautiful, we see some really lovely brightly coloured ones around here during the warmer months and the beautiful colours are what make these little guys such a great craft! My little boy loved combining all the different colours to create his beautiful dragonflies – Don’t they look adorable? Each dragonfly turns out unique which makes it great as a group craft too.

Here’s what we used

  • Coloured (or painted) popsicle sticks
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Pom poms
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How to make our popsicle stick dragonflies.

Take two popsicle sticks and glue them into a flattened X shape to make the wings. Take a third stick and glue it in the middle of your x shape as you can see above, this makes the dragonflies body.

Coat the body of the dragonfly in glue and stick the pom poms along it using a larger one for the head. Leave your pom poms to dry in place.

DIY easter photo frame for kids

It still feels as if Christmas has only just been and gone but valentines day is right around the corner and easter is not far behind. The shops have already started stocking eggs and my son has already started asking about easter eggs so I figured it wouldn’t be too early to start making some easter crafts. Besides, all you have to do is switch out the easter eggs for chicken eggs or flowers and this becomes a simple spring craft. So why not give this DIY easter photo frame a go!

You will need

  • Green/blue Paint and a paintbrush
  • Coloured Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun or strong glue
  • 4 popsicle sticks
  • Marker
  • Googly eyes

Start off by painting your popsicle sticks. You will need one Green, one blue and two half and half sticks. Put them aside to dry.

Whilst your sticks are drying you can make your decorations. We cut out a round yellow sun, a white cloud, two easter eggs which we decorated with pens and a fluffy sheep (see above for the shapes we used to make our sheep).

Once your Popsicle sticks are dry, glue them together as shown above with the green halves of your stick attached to the green stick and the blue halves attached to the blue ones.

Glue on your decorations and optionally use a marker to add a message to your frame. All that’s left to do is to cut out your chosen photo and glue it in place on the back of your frame.

Popsicle stick flowers

Popsicle stick flowers

With all this cold and wet weather spring seems a million miles away but it’s never too early for some bright and colourful spring crafts! We had so much fun making these popsicle stick flowers that we ended up with enough to make our own garden. They look adorable and are great for decoration, handmade keepsakes or to stick on a card.

You will need

Popsicle stick
Pom Pom
Green card or foam
Coloured paints or felt tip pens
Scissors
Glue

First you will need to colour your popsicle sticks. Paint four in the colour that you have chosen for your petals and then paint one green to make the stem.

Glue your popsicle sticks in to a flower shape as shown above.

Take your green popsicle stick and glue it to the back of your flower head. put your flower aside to dry

Glue a large pom pom down in the centre of your flower, then cut two leaf shapes out from your foam (or card) and stick them centrally near the bottom of your stem. Your Popsicle stick flower craft is finished! How sweet do these look?
