Potato stamped caterpillars
my youngest child has been absolutely fascinated with butterflies over the last couple of months so i recently picked up one of my favorite childhood books for her; the very hungry caterpillar. She loved the story so much and really enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. So much so that we decided we would make her very own caterpillar to go on her wall. These adorable potato stamped caterpillars are so cute and easy to make which means they’re the perfect fun craft for older and younger children alike!
Here’s what we used
Potatoes
Coloured paint
Coloured paper
Googly eyes
Scissors
Glue
Coloured marker
How to make potato stamped caterpillars
Take the potato and chop it in half ready for your little one to use as a stamp. We used three potato halves to make our caterpillar.
Add three different coloured paints onto the tray and place a potato in each.
Now its time for the fun part! Print the potatoes onto the paper to make the caterpillar’s body then Put the caterpillar aside to dry.
Add two eyes and some antennae to the caterpillar and then cut out and stick on several little feet. We then finished our cute caterpillar pictures by mounting them onto some cardboard. Once dry they’re ready to display and don’t they just look fab!
