hand print keepsake idea

This adorable hand print robin craft makes a lovely little keepsake and looks gorgeous on the front of a card!

Aren’t Robins just the cutest little birds? They always remind of my late Granny who was completely obsessed with them. She owned loads of different little Robin decorations and would sit in her chair by her French doors and watch them through the glass. They always seemed to bring her so much joy and now whenever I spot one out the window I think of her. My son never got to meet her as she passed away when i was in my teens at the good old age of 98! We talk about her from time to time though, when he see’s a picture of her or asks about the little robin that we put on the tree. He loves to hear all about his family and i love that he wants to know more!

Here’s what we used

  • White and Coloured Card
  • Black Marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue

1) forward facing robin

Take your brown paper and cut out a round egg shape for the robin’s body. Draw around little one’s hands and if need be help them to cut them out. Glue the hands either side on the back of your egg shaped body.

Cut out a smaller egg shape for the Robin’s red belly and glue it at the bottom of the body. Now give your Robin a beak and some eyes – we just cut out two white circles and used a black marker to draw on the details.

2) Flying hand print robin

Cut out a round egg shape for the Robin’s body. Then draw around little ones hand and help them cut out the hand print if necessary. Glue the handprint to the back of the body on one side as you can see above.

Cut out a smaller egg shape for the Robin’s belly and glue it inline with the opposite side of the Robin’s belly. Then give your Robin an eye and a triangle beak.
