These little beaded pumpkins are a sweet and easy Halloween craft made using just pony beads and pipe cleaners.
They’re really simple to put together and can be used in lots of different ways once finished. Add a piece of string to turn them into little Halloween decorations, or make them into cute phone charms, bag charms, keyrings, or little autumn trinkets.
This is also a lovely activity for children, although younger children may need a little help threading the beads and shaping the pipe cleaners. Remember that the wire ends of pipe cleaners can sometimes be a little pointy, so an adult should help with trimming, twisting or tucking away any sharp ends.
Here's what we used;
- A brown pipe cleaner
- Orange and green pony beads
- String
How to make pony bead pumpkin charms

Start by taking a length of brown pipecleaner. For our larger charm we used approximately half of a standard pipecleaner.

Thread your orange beads onto your pipecleaner. Push the beads into the centre of the stem. Ensure you have a bare section of pipecleaner on either side.

Bend the beaded area around into a circle and then twist the two loose ends of pipecleaners together at the base of the stalk to secure your pumpkin shape.

Now we need to twist the top of the loose ends together to create the shape of the stalk.

If you wish to add a bit of tendril to the pumpkin, you can simple cut off a small section of brown pipecleaner and twist it on to the base of the stalk. Then thread some green beads on and twist the end of the pipecleaner to secure it.

Once you have your little pumpkins, you can use them in any way you like. Perhaps you could thread some string onto them and have them as little decorations. I turned my sons pumpkin (the little one on the left) into a cute little phone charm, and it looks great!
