Paper plate robin craft for kids

Aren’t Robin’s just the sweetest little birds? We get quite a lot of them in our garden, they’re so confident too, often landing right next to us. We had so much fun making this paper plate Robin, my little guy loved the fact that he got to paint, cut out and use his favourite craft material (feathers!) all in one go. Even if our kitchen did look like someone had ripped open a feather pillow afterwards!

You will need

  • Paper plate
  • Red and brown paint
  • Eye stickers OR white paper and black marker
  • Yellow paper
  • Feathers
  • Scissors
  • Glue

First take out your paper plate and cut out your bird shape, you can make two birds from one paper plate by cutting it through the centre.

Now it’s time to start turning your bird into a robin! Take your red paint and paint on a red semi-circle belly, then fill the rest of the plate with brown paint for the back. Put your bird aside to dry.

Next your bird will need a beak and an eye. Cut out a triangle for the beak and glue it in place on the back of your paper plate. Now to stick on the eye, we used eye stickers but if you don’t have these you can just cut out a white paper circle and draw on the details using your black marker.

Glue a feather across your Robin’s body to make the wing. Then take 4 or 5 feathers, group them together and stick them down on the back of your paper plate at the rear point of the Robin to make his tail. You might need to wait a minute for the glue to dry slightly.

From your yellow Paper cut out two rounded trident shapes to make the feet. Glue them down on the back of your paper plate and your Paper plate Robin is finished and ready to display! he looks awesome!
