Heart flower cards

Heart flower cards

This adorable heart flower card is perfect for a whole host of occasions such as Valentine’s Day, birthdays, Mother’s Day and more!

They’re very sweet to look at and are super simple to make too which makes them great to adapt for a whole range of ages.

Here’s what we used

  • White, red and green card
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • A pencil

How to make our heart flower card

Take a piece of white a4 card and fold it in half to create a greetings card shape.

Now take the green card and cut out thin strips to make the stems, we settled on five flowers for space but you can do as many or many as you like with your children.

Cut out several identical hearts allowing three for each flower. The easiest way to keep them all equal is to cut out one heart and then use it as a template for the others. Fold the hearts in half.

For five flowers we cut out fifteen hearts.

Glue one heart on the end of each stem to make the base of the flower

Take two of your folded hearts and glue one heart on one side of one of your flower pieces and the other on the other half as can be seen above.

Repeat this step with all of your flowers to give them all that 3D effect. Then cut out a flower pot shape and glue it down at the bottom of your card covering all of the stems.

Add any optional extra details such as a ribbon bow or a special message. Once your card is dry it’s ready for gifting to somebody special!

Here’s what we used

  • Coloured card
  • Coloured paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A coloured marker

How to make our 3D heart cards

Take your piece of card and fold it in half ready for your design.

Next you will need to cut out 5 identical hearts. We did three of one colour and then two of another. Once you have all your hearts fold them in half at the centre point.

Take one heart of each colour. Glue one half of each heart and then stick them together as can be seen in the image above.

Continue this process by continuing to add hearts on either side alternating the colours until you have your completed 3D heart.

Glue the heart down onto the front of your card and cut out and add a smaller heart on either side.

Finish off your card by adding a special personalised message at the bottom and your card is ready to gift to someone special!

Here’s what we used

  • Scissors
  • Thick lollipop sticks
  • Glue gun
  • Coloured markers

How to make our heart shaped pom pom bookmarks

Start by taking your coloured yarn and wrapping it around your fingers several times until you have a good, chunky amount stacked up.

Gently remove the yarn from your fingers.

Take a small length of string and tie it across the centre of your Pom Pom ensuring that you pull it very tight.

Take your scissors and cut all the way around the edge of the Pom Pom at the centre of the loops.

Fluff your Pom Pom up and trim the scraggly ends, ensure that you don’t over trim as you will need to shape it a little later.

Repeat this process until you have 3 little Pom poms.

Take your glue gun and glue the three pom poms together into a triangular shape

Trim your Pom Poms down into your desired heart shape.

Once you are happy with the shape of your heart glue it down onto a thick lollipop stick and then add your special message to the front of the stick.
