These adorable pipe clea er christmas tree ornaments are so simple and easy to make, and they look really sweet and unique too! All you need are a few basic materials so they’re budget friendly too.

Here’s what we used

  • Green and brown pipe cleaners
  • Pony beads
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Sequin stars
  • String or yarn

How to make our pipe cleaner christmas tree decorations

Take you’re green pipe cleaner and twist it around into a tightly coiled spiral with the central end bent slightly up as can be seen in the image above

Take that central end and pull it upwards to create the spiral tree shape that will make the body of the ornament

Take a length of brown pipeclean, thread it up through the centre of the tree and then twist the top end around the top of the tree.

Take your pony beads and thread them onto the christmas tree body, spacing them evenly apart.

Tie a length of string into a loop and then tie or glue the loop onto the top of the christmas tree ornament. Finish off your decoration by adding a little shiny star to the top of the tree!

Christmas tree craft

Christmas tree craft

Christmas is right around the corner, and this cute little christmas tree craft is perfect for getting into that festive feeling.

I love how each one turned out totally different. One of my children painted santa claus and the other painted tinsel and baubles, whilst I went for some pipe cleaner tinsel and festive stars.

Here’s what we used

  • Green and yellow card
  • Brown card (or a clean tp roll)
  • Scissors
  • A pencil
  • Decorational bits (I.e paint, pens or sticky bits)
  • My free christmas tree template, which is available at the bottom of this page

How to make our simple christmas tree craft

Start by printing and cutting out my free christmas tree template! Draw around the template onto your green card.

Cut out the christmas tree shape and then lay it out in front of you. Decorate your christmas trees in anyway that you like. I chose sequins and pipe cleaners to stick on but my kids chose to use paint!

Now, use our star template to draw and cut out a star to sit on the top of the tree. Stick the star in place using either glue or double sided tape.

Now it’s time to make the trunk for your christmas tree! You can either use a clean toilet toll or take a long strip of brown card..

And roll it round and glue it into a tube! Then take your scissors and cut two equal sized snips in one end of the tube directly opposite each other.

Slot the tree into your tube and your christmas tree craft is finished and ready to be displayed!

Shredded paper birds nests

Shredded paper birds nests

These cute shredded paper birds nests are the perfect craft for welcoming in the spring/summer seasons. They’re easily adaptable to suit all different ages and children will love collaging with different shades and tones of paper, you could even use magazines to add a little extra variety.

Here’s what we used

  • Coloured card (blue, yellow, pink, orange)
  • Various brown papers
  • Googly eyes
  • Feathers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A pencil

How to make our shredded paper birds nests

Start by taking a pencil and sketching out the shape of the tree trunk, the branch and a semi circle birds nest. (This will work as an easy guide for your little one to follow).

Next take your brown papers and begin shredding them into little rough strips and squares. Glue the pieces down inside the guidelines to make your tree trunk and Birds nest.

from your coloured paper cut out a large circle. Fold the circle in half and glue it down in place on one side of the nest to make the mother bird.

Now take your coloured paper and cut out some small semi circles to make the babies’ heads. Glue them down right above the nest.

Glue on some Googly eyes and beaks to each of your birds.

Add some feet and feathers to finish off your birds then add any optional extras (like our fluffy cloud!) and your cute shredded paper birds nests are finished and ready to be popped aside to dry!

My kids and I love to see how your family’s finished artwork turned out, did you know you can now share them with us on Facebook and instagram?!
