Is there anything better than snuggling up on the sofa with a cosy duvet, your favourite Halloween film and a little bit of crafting? These cute paper plate spiderwebs are the perfect project for a cosy autumn afternoon, and they're so much fun for kids to make!

Made using just a few simple craft supplies, these colourful spiderwebs are a lovely way to get creative while practising fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as little hands thread the wool back and forth through the paper plate.

They're easy, budget-friendly and make adorable DIY Halloween decorations too! Hang them in the window, pop them on the wall or make a whole collection of spooky spiderwebs to decorate your home for Halloween.

Heres what we used

• Paper plate
• Hole punch
• White yarn
• Black card
• Pipe cleaners
• Sticker eyes
• Scissors
• Glue/tape

How to make our paper plate spider web craft

Cut a large circle out from the inside of the paper plate, leaving just enough edge to punch the holes.

Use your hole punch to make several similarly spaced holes around the inside of the paper plate.

Take a long length of yarn and sellotape one end to the back of the paper plate. Take the other end and begin threading it in and out of the holes in your paper plate. Ask your child to either follow a pattern of going from one side to the other or thread it at random as my little one did. Once each hole has been threaded, tape the loose end down on the back of the plate.

Now its time to make your spider! Cut out a large circle from some black card and then stick eight equal pipe cleaner lengths onto the back of it for legs. Finish off your spider by giving him two eyes and adding him to your web by either gluing him on or tucking him into the yarn.

To hang your spider web simply punch a hole at the top, thread a length through and tie it into a loop. Your paper plate spider web is finished! Aren't they fab?
